Sign Language Classes
Sign language classes are offered for those who are interested in learning how to sign. These classes are fun as well as challenging, and are available for beginner to advanced level signers. Pre-registration is required.
There is a $75.00 fee for the class. There are eight sessions per class held on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Savannah Speech and Hearing Center.
The book used for the class can be purchased at Barnes & Nobles Bookstore, www.amazon.com, or Lemstones Christian Bookstore.
The book is Signing Illustrated — The Complete Learning Guide by Mickey Flodin (1994). The list price for the book is $15.00 and the ISBN Number is 0-399-52134-8.

Centralized Interpreter Referral Service
Savannah Speech and Hearing Center is pleased to announce a new program - the Centralized Interpreter Referral Service (CIRS). Interpreted situations occur where and when clear, accurate communication needs to take place between a deaf or hard of hearing person and a hearing person. The responsibility of the interpreter is to interpret everything that is said into sign language and to interpret everything that is signed into spoken English. CIRS interpreters serve as facilitators of communication, rendering the message faithfully and conveying both the content and spirit of participants. Please call (912) 355-4601 for more information
Hearing & Speech Screenings for Schools
The Savannah Speech and Hearing Center offers FREE walk-in speech and hearing screenings every Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Children and adults are screened on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Dial-a-Hearing Screening Test
By calling 355-3104, you can have your hearing screened FREE over the telephone. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This should be a local call. Place the call from a quiet room, using a good quality telephone, and follow the instructions.
Georgia Southeastern Cleft Lip & Palate Clinic
The Georgia Southeastern Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic has as its main purpose the optimum care and treatment of children born with cleft lip and/or palate. The Clinic was founded in March 1981 and is composed of an interdisciplinary team for the management of problems associated with cleft lip and palate.
The Clinic utilizes many specialists to provide both physical and psychological support, thus promoting normal growth and development.

Referrals are accepted from physicians and/or medical personnel from within the 24 county southeast Georgia geographical region. The Clinic meets on the third Tuesday of alternate months beginning in February of each year. Ask the staff of the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center for information regarding the Clinic.
Teacher In-Services
Inservices provided by staff speech-language pathologists and audiologists are offered to preschool and school teachers and paraprofessionals. Please contact the Center if you would like to schedule an inservice for your staff.
Hammond for Hope Library
The Hammond for Hope Library is the first and only library for the deaf and hard of hearing in this area. The library contains books, videos, and magazines about deafness and hearing loss which can be
a resource for deaf individuals and their families, educators, students, and others who want to learn more about hearing loss and deafness.
The library officially opened in May, 1999 and has had many visitors to date. The library is open and free to the public. It is funded by the Hammond for Hope Foundation and through private donations. The library is housed at Savannah Speech and Hearing Center and is staffed by volunteers.
